1. What Messages We Send
VLTA sends the following types of SMS messages:
- Verification codes (OTP) — One-time 6-digit codes sent during account registration to verify your phone number.
- Booking notifications — Confirmations, reminders, and status updates for charging sessions (only if you enable SMS notifications).
- Security alerts — Critical account security notifications such as password changes or unusual login attempts.
2. How You Opt In (Consent)
You provide consent to receive SMS messages from VLTA when you enter your phone number in the VLTA mobile app and tap "Send Code" during the account verification process.
Before the verification code is sent, the following disclosure is displayed on screen:
"By tapping Send Code, you consent to receive a one-time SMS verification code from VLTA. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."
By proceeding, you expressly agree to receive the verification SMS. For optional notification messages (booking updates, alerts), you may separately opt in through the app's notification preferences settings, where SMS is disabled by default.
Consent is not required as a condition of purchase. You may use VLTA without enabling optional SMS notifications.
3. Message Frequency
- Verification: Typically 1–3 messages per account setup.
- Notifications (if opted in): Message frequency varies based on your booking activity. Typically fewer than 10 messages per month.
4. How to Opt Out (STOP)
You can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from VLTA. You will receive a final confirmation message and no further SMS messages will be sent.
You can also disable SMS notifications in the VLTA app under Settings > Notification Preferences > SMS.

6. Message & Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. VLTA does not charge for sending SMS messages, but your carrier may apply standard messaging fees.
7. Supported Carriers
VLTA SMS messages are supported on all major US carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and their MVNOs. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
8. Privacy
Your phone number is used solely for account verification and optional notifications. We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
9. Sample Messages
- Verification: "Your VLTA verification code is 123456. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help."
- Booking confirmation: "VLTA: Your charging session is confirmed for 2:00 PM today at 123 Main St. Reply STOP to opt out."
- Security alert: "VLTA: A new device signed into your account. If this wasn't you, secure your account at vlta.io. Reply STOP to opt out."
